Social media agency cost depends on the work you are buying, not simply the number of platforms in a package. Before asking for a monthly figure, define the content, production and response responsibilities. This guide helps a business comparing agencies understand the quotation and avoid paying for a scope that does not match its needs.
Separate the four main workstreams
Strategy sets the audience, messages and campaign priorities. Production creates photography, video, design and copy. Account management schedules content, handles approvals and coordinates responses. Paid media manages advertising activity. A proposal may include some of these and exclude others.
Ask the supplier to identify the owner and output for each workstream. “Full service” is too vague to use as an acceptance standard.
Translate output counts into actual effort
Ten posts can mean ten simple adaptations of supplied assets or ten original shoots and edited videos. Specify the formats, duration where relevant, filming requirements, languages and revision rounds. Clarify whether a carousel counts as one item and whether a resized version is a separate deliverable.
A sample month should show what will actually arrive. This is more informative than comparing two packages that use the same word for very different work.
Keep media spend outside the management fee
Ask whether advertising spend is paid directly by your business and whether management is fixed or linked to spend. Creator fees, locations, specialist talent and licensed assets should also be visible.
Compare first-month setup costs with recurring charges. An initial audit, tracking setup or content shoot may make the first invoice different from the normal monthly retainer. Ask which items will recur and under what conditions.
Check response coverage and approval limits
Define business hours, languages and the difference between basic comment moderation and customer support. A social team cannot resolve an order issue without a route to the operations team. Agree escalation rules and expected response windows.
On your side, appoint one approver. Conflicting feedback and late approvals can reduce output without reducing the effort required. Set a calendar that includes review time, not only publication dates.
Compare value against a documented objective
Use a comparison sheet with included deliverables, exclusions, reporting, account ownership and exit arrangements. Then decide whether the proposed activity can support your objective. A launch may need production intensity; an established account may need better customer response and measurement.
Do not treat this article as a Dubai price survey. Request a written quotation based on your brief and assess the total cost, including your team’s time and any separate production needs.

Frequently asked questions
Does an agency fee normally include advertising spend?
Do not assume it does. Ask for the management fee and platform spend as separate line items.
Is a cheaper monthly package always better value?
Only if it delivers the work you need at an acceptable standard. Missing production or response coverage can create extra costs.
