AI in marketing is most useful when it improves a defined task. Generating more material is not the same as improving a campaign. Start with a bottleneck, decide what a good result looks like and keep a person responsible for approving the output.
Separate assistance from decision-making
AI can help organise notes, explore creative directions or draft variations. Those uses differ from allowing a system to publish claims, allocate substantial spend or respond to sensitive customer situations without review.
List the inputs and consequences of each proposed use. A moodboard experiment needs different controls from a tool handling customer records or public-facing product information.
Choose one measurable pilot
Select a repetitive task with a clear starting point, such as adapting an approved message into several draft openings. Compare the total time required, including corrections, against your current process.
Define quality before testing: factual accuracy, tone, product consistency and usefulness to the reader. A faster first draft is not a saving if it creates more review work later.
Protect the facts that define the brand
Maintain an approved source for product names, specifications, contact details and claims. Check generated copy against that source. For visuals, inspect packaging, labels, proportions and any people or locations that could be mistaken for real evidence.
A concept image should not be presented as proof of a completed client project. Use real portfolio material when making claims about delivered work.
Build review into production
Name the person who checks factual content and the person who approves the final creative. Keep feedback specific so corrections can be traced to the brief. Review translations with a competent speaker rather than assuming fluent-looking text is accurate.
Use appropriate tools and permissions for the material involved. Do not place private client information into an unapproved service just because it is convenient.
Keep what works and stop what does not
Record the pilot’s output quality, revision effort and total cost. Expand a workflow only when the results justify it. Some tasks will remain quicker or more reliable through conventional production.
The strongest outcome may be a hybrid approach: real product photography, AI-assisted visual development and a human-led final edit. Choose the method that serves the message.

Frequently asked questions
Can AI replace marketing strategy?
It can support analysis and exploration, but a business still needs people to choose objectives, judge evidence and take responsibility.
Is AI content always cheaper?
No. Review, licensing, corrections and consistency work affect the total cost.
What should a first pilot measure?
Measure usable output, total review time and accuracy against a defined brief, not just the amount generated.
